Q . What is banner?: A. A banner or as sometimes referred to as a banner ad, is a rectangular advertisement placed on a Web site or blogs. They can be either text and graphic images. Flash and html components can also be used in creating a banner as well as sounds and animated pictures.
Q. Why do I need to create a banner for my site/blog?: A. There might be more than one reason. Some are: Banners can be used to advertise your site on other people's website and/or blogs. You can use your own banners in sponsor programs such as Google Adsense, in case there isn't enough sponsors for your site. So in that case, instead of social ads or blank images your own banners can be rotated. And you can use banners on many banner exchange services to get attention to your site.
Q. What kind of banner sizes are possible? Are there any standards for size and dimensions?: A. Generally there are widely used formats approved by Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). The latest formats can be reached at IAB. Full banners (468x60 pixels), Half banners (234x60 pixels), Micro bar (88x31 pixels), Leaderboard (728x90 pixels) are some popular horizontal banner dimensions. There are vertical, video banners, html banners and popup banners also.
